Emily’s Fundraiser – On ‘behalf of Scotty’s Little Soldiers

“I feel protected and it feels like I can always be protected in camp but when I want to leave camp I have a way to leave but others can’t come in” Jack 10. Jack is already thinking about security and how living outside the wire isn’t always safe.
“I feel sad when my dad leaves for work” Sofia 10. Her dad has just left to the Falklands for 6 months and is struggling.
“I am lonely because my dad is in the army and we don’t live together, I miss him” Danny 7. His dad is posted in England and the family have to remain in Northern Ireland until the older siblings have finished their GCSE’s. Danny is struggling.
“Army is our home and our family” Scarlett 9.
Isabelle 8 – Her dad is away 2 to 3 weeks then back for a week. When home, he does a lot with her, cycling, races and outdoor stuff. She associates coming first as part of her dad’s influence.
“I feel protected” Willow 9. Willow feels protected by her dad.
“I feel happy and fine for dad to be in the army” Ethan 8. Ethan wants to follow in his dad’s footsteps.
“I’ve lived in five countries and it’s fun” Maddie. Maddie loves travelling.
“Army is our home” Charlotte 10. Charlotte doesn’t always talk about how she feels.
“I feel great but I do not want to move” Emily. Emily does not want to move, she feels unsettled. Dad who is from England still has a few more years to serve, Mum is from Northern Ireland.
“I feel mostly sad because I miss out on what my nana and auntie are doing”. Imelda 11. Imelda considers England her home and feels she is missing out on family.
